noise ritual (2023)

noise ritual is a work for percussionists routed into a no input mixing board (NIMB) played by the second percussionist. Through specific routing and gain staging, the acoustic instruments are able to control and augment the feedback created on the NIMB. In performance, each group follows an open graphic video score.

Loosely inspired by the idea of ritual, the score contains alchemist and wicca symbols to create an ambiance of esotericism. This aura of mysticism is transmitted through the other-worldly and alien sounds created from the electroacoustic setup.
